Wedding table centrepiece lantern set in a circle of perfumed English roses, fern fronds and sweet peas
Encircled by roses and sweet peas and smelling divine – Summer

Looking for something to add impact to venue flowers, I fell in love with these large cylindrical lanterns as there are so many ways to dress them up.

Reception venues are usually large spaces, so one of the main challenges of table flowers is to add height and impact without getting lost – and it’s here where these lanterns really score. Wreathed in flowers at table level, they create a floral wow factor on circular tables. And interspersed with other lanterns, with tumbling flowers placed in the tops, impact is also made at height across the space, with the added advantage that the flowers are lifted above eye level so that conversation can flow freely across the table.

They can be cost effective impact pieces also as they are lovely (and large) objects in themselves so look great with minimal decoration – just a small cluster of flowers placed on the handle at the top, and the base filled with flower heads on a cushion of soft moss, gives a floral flourish without breaking the bank.

They can also extend wedding budgets by playing host to flower posies which have been used to line the aisle during the wedding ceremony. Tied with pretty ribbon around the tops of the lantern, the posies then keep working hard all through the wedding reception, transformed again by the gentle glow of candlelight even throughout the evening celebrations.
